NOTES OF POWER
Although this might come off as a negative desire, it really stems from needing control over one’s own life.
There are many circumstances on a daily basis that rob people of their power - of their ability to make a choice and control certain situations. Thus, when rendered possible, people seek to get their hands on anything they can control.
A chance to finally be the one fine tuning the soundtrack of their life.
To use their own notes.
Create their own world.
To share their own story.
To be the one that formed nothing into
Something.
Or even better -
Something spectacular.
Any form of creation gives people a sense of power and control, simply said - because it came from them.
Whether it be a written piece, a painting, a speech or creating music. It is art. A person was able to create something that was not there before. And they own it.
No matter the type of creation, they all hold significant meaning to different individuals.
But there is one form of creation that is so universal and truly so powerful that it not only affects one’s inner world, but the world around them as well.
Music.
In many art forms, the artist is the only one who truly connects to their piece and fully understands the story of what brought this piece to life.
Yet with music, when an artist presents their inner selves to the public, people all over the world resonate on a level that is not comparable to anything else.
Music has now opened doors for people to finally express themselves, and not only that, but to realize that what they are thinking and feeling is not something they have to go through alone. There truly is a whole community of others who understand and are experiencing similar feelings in their own lives.
When talking about power and having control over one’s life, imagine the feeling of being able to lend out a hand to the rest of the world. And that is exactly what music does. These artists are giving the public a voice for things that many people would have never expressed, but now they are heard.
And so…The desire for power was never negative nor selfish. It was beneficial. To both sides. The artist was given the ability to create, and their listeners were given an opportunity to connect.
And now both the artist and the listener are on the same page of understanding.
And this level of understanding is the ultimate time for the listener to flip the script, or better said - the sheet music - and learn to express their own inner world and harness that power themselves.
With a world that revolves around music so much, more people should pursue learning how to create music of their own. It does not have to be for the public, more so a way for people to better know themselves and find a way to finally become a creator.
